Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi marriage pictures

The Bangalore chapter of the B-town wedding of the year closed on October 30. Here’s how the Vivek Oberoi-Priyanka alwa wedding panned out.

Not even than a year ago, bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi told in an interview that he dodges his mom’s requests about marriage. But on the evening of October 29, one saw a different Vivek — his eyes only on Priyanka Alva — his bride-to-be within the next few hours. It was as if he couldn’t wait for those interim hours to pass. There was a delay in the schedule — the reception began about three hours late — but all that was forgotten once the bridegroom arrived.

With a group of baraatis in their trademark pink seheras, Vivek entered the main hall hand-in-hand with Priyanka, where over 1,000 people were waiting to greet and meet the couple. Dressed like an Indian prince, in a red, intricately embroidered Tarun Tahiliani ensemble that matched Priyanka’s crimson flared lehenga (sources claim it weighs at least 15 kilos), Vivek was gleeful and in bliss, even stopping to wipe off some make-up on Priyanka’s face that was smudged. Priyanka was all aglow with bright red lipstick, red eye shadow along with kohl-lined the eyes. She had mehndi on her feet and wore a ring on one of her fingers. Vivek had Priyanka’s name in mehndi on his palm. Standing under the banyan tree set-up, the couple met all the guests who had come to wish them. Personally greeting a sea of people is no mean task. Hence, after a while, the couple had to sit.

The meet-and-greet session lasted longer than expected, and the couple arrived at the shaadi mantap only after midnight. So, technically VO got married on October 30. First Vivek entered the mantap, playfully winking at a few and eversmiling. Then came the bride and friends holding the train of the lehenga.

A team of around 10 pujaris sat around the hawand kund in the gorgeously lit mantap, complete with crystals and white flowers, created especially for the wedding. Rituals, including for the parents of the couple, were performed after an uttariya that was placed between the bride and the groom was removed and the varmala was exchanged. Vivek whispered sweet nothings to the blushing bride — all captured on the plasma screen right outside the mantap where guests were seated.
Soon it was time for the pheras, and the couple locked pinkies to walk around the holy fire. Vivek also put a necklace around Priyanka’s neck after which rings were exchanged. And then, he put the sindoor on her maang and also gave her a ring. External affairs minister SM Krishna and wife Prema blessed the couple, after which it was time for family and friends to bless them with kumkum.

According to sources, the bidai took place the same night and that the couple will leave for Mumbai this evening.

I hate love stories - Bollywood Music review

Jab mila tu is delightfully bouncy; tremendous vocals by Vishal, and sparkling interludes! Bin tere has everything going for it, barring that ennui of offering yet-another track to Shafqat that reminds one of his previous tracks; Shekhar’s unplugged version is enthralling though.

The title song is addictive and lively, along with a catchy hook that is oh-so-familiar, while Shreya’s extraordinarily sweet voice saves the otherwise predictable Bahara – the ‘chill version’ by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is a clear winner, but.

The innovatively paced, melancholic song, Sadka hua is an instant winner; Suraj Jagan rocks with his vocals. Thoroughly engaging soundtrack! Free download songs here.

Bollywood Movie Review - Kites

DIRECTOR: Anurag Basu
ACTORS: Hrithik Roshan, Barbara Mori, Kangna Ranaut, Nicolas Brown, Kabir Bedi, Yuri
RUN TIME: 140 mins
CERTIFICATION: U/A

After being bombarded by endless marketing, the much awaited bollywood movie Kites remains a disappointing film, despite the heavyweights involved. Right from superstar Hrithik to producer Rakesh Roshan, who has himself delivered a series of hit films, to Anurag Basu, a competent next generation director not to forget Barbara Mori, the latest of a seemingly endless series of firangis who demand our attention with their curves and carefree ways. Hey, hang on, what happened to all our beautiful Indian actresses, huh.

The major problem with bollywood film Kites is its mixed parentage, which leaves you feeling cold as a viewer. The film lacks soul, while none of the characters really reach out and connect with you. That’s probably because the film is a mix of Hindi, English and Spanish with subtitles, while it has a story that has been told often before. The only difference in Kites is that the film is totally situated abroad, but the story is the same old Bollywood yarn shot in fancy locations stuffed with cool looking people in designer clothes.

Hrithik plays Jay, a Los Angeles based hustler with a hat, who teaches dance by day, song coming up, while waiting to strike it rich at the casinos. As he looks for the jackpot, he sells DVDs and for a fee, marries immigrants looking for a green card. So far he has done 11 fake marriages. One of his ditzy students, Gina Grover [Kangna Ranaut] falls for him, and proceeds to reveal it in true psychopathic style. One evening Hrithik lands home to find Kangna there. Turns out she stole his key, made a copy, broke in and now wants to clean up his dirty house. Whaaat? A zapped Hrithik thows her out, till he sees her stretch limousine parked outside. Oooh, she is loaded, being rich casino owner Bob Grovers’ [Kabir Bedi] daughter. So he starts wooing Kangna for her money.

Hrithik gets invited for Kangna’s brother’s marriage to their fancy palace by the sea. Brother Tony [Nicolas Brown], who speaks and dresses like a real bad dude, is about to wed the luscious Natasha [Barbara Mori]. Turns out Barbara was earlier Linda, a Mexican immigrant, and one of the 11 women Hrithik had married. Well, now he falls hopelessly in love with her, for reasons unexplained. Since Barbara only speaks Spanish and the couple can’t even have a basic conversation, my guess is it’s pure lust, surely a worthy cause. So they run off, leaving an enraged Tony to chase them all over America. Now, for the rest of the film, there are non-stop action sequences, as Tony and his thugs chase the runaway couple. Kangna disappears, while the couple get involved in a bank hold up, a hot air balloon ride till they finally end up being chased by bounty hunters, cops and brother Tony. In between, the duo romance in a jungle, even get married in her village in Mexico, but their romance doesn’t quite spark off. After lots of repetitive sequences, the film ends with our hero denied his victory.

Kites is shot beautifully, produced lavishly and has some decent action sequences. However, the music remains average, while the background score is a bit too operatic. The major problem however, remains the ordinary story, and the garbled screenplay that follows. Hrithik looks and acts like a bronzed god, Barbara sizzles in the right parts, while Kangna should stop playing psychopathic any more, though she is clearly a natural. In the end Kites suffers from trying to cater to a diverse audience, Indian and international, which is the latest fad amongst the big boys of Bollywood. It’s a bit like eating makke ki roti with salsa, which may be novel, but is definitely not tasty.

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar to host a reality show based on the hit American show Top Chef

After hosting Khatron Ke Khiladi, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar is ready to return back to his first love through a new television show. The chefturned-actor will host his next reality show, which is on the lines of the American competition show Top Chef.

A source reveals, “Akshay was the face of Khatron Ke Khiladi. But then, suddenly one heard that Priyanka Chopra will be hosting the third season of Khatron Ke Khiladi. In fact, there were rumours that Akshay had suggested her name. After Priyanka replaced him in the third season of the adventure reality show, Akshay had announced that he would be back on television and that he was considering several ideas. Buzz was that the actor was keen to turn producer with his next TV show.”

“The Bollywood actor has finalised on the idea of hosting Top Chef. Talks are on with a production house and things are slowly but surely getting finalised. Akshay is currently working out the show details including the changes they need to make in the show format so that the new version suits Indian sensibilities,” adds the source.

Bollywood actor Akshay immediately agreed to host this show as it’s a fresh format quite unlike the various dance and music reality shows on television. Contrary to the tough image he is associated with, Akshay will project a far more interactive and friendly image in the new show. According to the show format, there will be a panel of judges, which might include some actors and also professional chefs, and participants from all across the country.

Akshay is currently shooting for Anees Bazmee’s Thank You in Canada. “The show should start by August first week by when Akshay is expected to work out his dates,” adds the source.

The channel neither confirmed nor denied the news. Akshay Kumar was unavailable for comment.

ABOUT THE SHOW

Top Chef is an American reality competition show, which started in 2006. The show has chefs competing against each other after which they are judged by a panel of professional chefs and other notable people from the food and wine industry. The American version is currently in its seventh season with hosts Katie Lee Joel and Padma Lakshmi. So far there have been 61 guest judges on the show. Of these, 20 have won the Food and Wine Best New Chef Award.

Ready to soar high - Bollywood much awaited film Kites

Reliance BIG Pictures’ and bollywood director Rakesh Roshan’s eagerly-awaited romantic film Kites will release on May 21 in over 2,300 screens worldwide. Of these, 1,850 screens are in India and 450 screens overseas, making Kites the largest ever release in India and overseas. Not just that, we hear, some exhibitors are very keen to have shows at 6.30 am, while some want to schedule as many as 35 shows of the film in one day. The West Bengal territory for the film has been sold at Rs 3-3.5 crore, an amount that no other Bollywood film has commanded so far. The film will premiere in New York on May 16 and in London on May 18.

Bollywood Hottie Mallika Sherawat creates hisstory

Bollywood (now hollywood) actress Mallika Sherawat is enjoying the company of snakes. The actress, who plays a snake-woman in her forthcoming film Hisss, brought real snakes to unveil the film at the ongoing 62nd Cannes Film Festival. “All the Sssnakes have just entered the Majestic Hotel in Cannes! Hissstory is being made:) (sic!),” Mallika wrote on her Twitter page.

“Headed to the Vanity Fair event at hotel Du Cap... For 2morro’s Hisss event, @NuclearMango is gonna live-stream me and the Sssnakes:) (sic!),” she had written in an earlier post on the micro-blogging website.

Directed by Hollywood’s Jennifer Lynch, the film also stars Irrfan Khan and Divya Dutta. Mallika is also promoting her other new film, Love, Barack, which will be screened at the film festival. A romantic comedy directed by Doug McHenryset, it is set during Barack Obama’s campaign for the US Presidency and the shooting of the film was completed in Los Angeles last month.

Mallika is having a gala time at Cannes as she has found a new friend in Hollywood actress Salma Hayek, with whom she had dinner. “Hung out last nite with my new friend Salma Hayek. Adore her!!” Mallika tweeted.

RAAVAN - Music Review

Beera, in true Rahman style, takes a spirited, free-flowing life of its own; the energizing tune, completely fresh vocals of Mustafa Kutoane’s literally African sound and Vijay Prakash’s spritely rendition…it all adds up perfectly. Behene de is gorgeous! Resembling the style of Taj Mahal’s Kuliridhu is a massive advantage, even as it takes many fascinating turns midway. Karthik is in dazzling form in this track!

Thok di killi’s exotic sounds and energy have it in great stead even beyond those occasionally predictable Arabic’esque phases, thanks in large doses to the energiser bunny-level liveliness of Sukhwinder Singh. The way it ends, in almost a frenzy, is a nice touch! Ranjha ranjha, with its methodically ascending orchestration and earthy vocals by Rekha Bharadwaj, offers instant gratification.

Add to that, Javed Ali’s polished vocals, some scintillating interludes and sheer lyrical drama by Gulzar – this is a clear winner! Khili re is Rahman-template in every note…that semi-devotional, heartfelt rendition by a lady – sounds functional, but is also the sole mildly-appealing track. Kata kata is a euphoric victory, but immediately catchy and hummable, with enough mindboggling layers hidden to unravel on multiple listens. Mani, as always, continues to bring the best out of Rahman!

A formula to bollywood copy right act

A possible solution regarding the amendment in the Copyright Act is that producers and authors/composers can decide their share of royalties by signing a contract before a film goes on the floors.

After the war of words between Aamir Khan and Javed Akhtar, and Sonu Nigam and Vidhu Vinod Chopra over the amendment in the Copyright Act, there now seems to be a solution in sight.

On Wednesday evening, producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra went to Delhi to meet HRD minister Kapil Sibal to discuss the pending royalty issues. During the two-hourlong meeting, Chopra explained to Sibal that the proposed solution by the music fraternity of 50 per cent of the royalty amount being with the producer while 25 per cent each will be shared by the music director and lyricist was not feasible.

Among various solutions, Sibal and Chopra decided that a possible solution could be that the producer and author/composer can decide their share of royalties and other fees by a contract signed prior to a film going on the floors. Acting on the proposed solution, every member of the committee has received a copy of the proposed settlement on Thursday.

According to the proposed solution, it is now clear that the right to negotiate and arrive at mutually acceptable terms is with the negotiating parties i.e. the producer and the author/composer. This will be part of the contract that the parties will enter into prior to making a film. The parties are free to do business any which way they desire.

Chopra said, “We as an industry really appreciate Kapil Sibal’s efforts. This is for the betterment of the industry.”

Music Review - LAHORE

LAHORE (HINDI – MM KREEM PIYUSH MISHRA AND WAYNE SHARPE)

Ab ye kaafila is atmospheric and lilting enough except for those cringe-worthy English phrases; Karthik, KK and Kreem himself pitch in fantastic vocals to lift this lively track. Daler Mehndi is roped in for crooning Musafir and he does a breathtaking job of the sweeping melody going against his usual ebullient self — Kreem’s orchestration, in particular, blends beautifully with the vocals.

Rang de, in reality, sounds more like Daler material, but Shankar Mahadevan does a remarkable job in this chestthumping Punju track that despite treading awfully familiar material, packs enough punch to distinguish itself. It is in his vocals that Kreem scores big time, in Saaware, with an almost Rahman’ish sparseness to the haunting tune and orchestration. His version of Musafir too adds just that touch of melancholy over Daler’s attempt, that sounds enormously appealing.

Piyush Mishra’s lone track, O re bande, with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Shilpa Rao is his trademark sound with a qawali’sh, discordant rhythm that is highly addictive.

Not to be outdone, composer Wayne Sharpe score stupendously with his instrumental theme that has Lisbeth Scott’s soaring vocals even as the tune rises even higher to a stunning crescendo! Completely unexpected gem of a soundtrack

Now, Vidhu Vinod Chopra abuses telented bollywood singer Sonu Nigam

The royalty battle has thrown up a new set of adversaries — Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Sonu Nigam traded insults; may never work together again.

The committee formed to tackle the royalty issue between the producers and the music fraternity finds that the cause is being sidelined. After the much talked about face-off between Javed Akhtar and Aamir Khan, they’re dealing with another war of words between Sonu Nigam and Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Apparently, they got into a heated debate and Vidhu abused Sonu, who in turn retaliated spiritedly. Some members of the committee had to intervene to settle the fallout.

Our source said, “Sonu proposed that the producer should keep 50 per cent of the royalties, while the music director and the singer

should keep 25 per cent each. Vidhu disagreed and stated that the music directors or singers should take on the losses as well. When Sonu stuck to his guns at the meeting held at a five star hotel in Mumbai, Vidhu lost his cool and abused him. He told Sonu to ‘f*** off’, and a shocked Sonu was visibly upset. He told Vidhu to mind his language. An incensed Vidhu said that Sonu is making so much money and most of his songs are from his (Vidhu’s) films, so he should give some of the amount to him. Finally, Vidhu said that he will not work with Sonu. The singer shot back that it is entirely Vidhu’s loss. The matter wouldn’t have ended there had Madhur Bhandarkar and Ken Ghosh not intervened.” Sonu Nigam gave us his side of the story. He said, “We are not supposed to talk about what has happened, but since you called, I do not wish to negate it. Vidhu got a little excited and he has the habit of speaking in that manner. I don’t want to hold it against him as I have heard worse abuses from Vidhu. All I can say is that main saste mein chhoot gaya.” When asked about his reaction to Vidhu’s decision about not working with him again, Sonu said, “That’s my decision completely. I know that I am a good singer and no one is doing a favour to anyone. Yahan koi kissi ko banata nahin hai. We all are students of this art and if someone does not want to acknowledge anyone’s work, it’s their problem.” Sonu finally added, “After the meeting, he came up to me and the matter got resolved. Vidhu is known to be like this and uske moonh se gaali nikal gayee, toh humne bhi de diya jawab. However, he is known for this, so I won’t hold it against him.” Vidhu Vinod Chopra remained unavailable for comment.

Filmfare awards 2009

FROM THE NOSTALGIA OF YAMMA YAMMATO THE DEADLY COMIC TIMING OF SRK AND SAIF, THE 55TH IDEA FILMFARE AWARDS ROCKED

The drum roll was thundering in everyone’s mind as the 55th Idea Filmfare Awards kicked off in grand style on Saturday night at Mumbai’s Yash Raj Studios. Among the timely arrivals on the red carpet was Gauri Khan. Shah Rukh, who was already inside for final rehearsals, took a break, stepped out and escorted her in himself.

A radiant Nandita Das arrived with her new husband Subodh, while the solo entries included Harman Baweja, Deepika Padukone, Sameer Reddy, Celina Jaitley, and a rather pensive looking Tabu. Quite wisely, Shruti Haasan traded her rock chic avatar for a feminine body-hugging Gucci gown instead. Kalki Koechlin, however, tried on a saree for a change and her companion Anurag Kashyap looked extra pleased.

Lara Dutta and Mahesh Bhupathi made a red carpet announcement of their relationship with their joint arrival. Former boyfriend Dino Morea didn’t even have Nandita Mahtani for company.

Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra were beaming on the red carpet and their smiles grew even wider when they spotted Omi (Mr Chatur of 3 Idiots) arrive with his mother. Even Minissha Lamba had her mother for company. Arya Babbar was sporting a giant moustache, his look in Tees Maar Khan. One surprise guest was former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes, who even paid Shahid Kapoor a visit backstage.

While all the stars were arriving from the rear entrance and making their way to the red carpet, Rahman’s car dropped him straight on the red carpet. One of the last to arrive was Rekha, in a trademark golden Kanjeevaram saree. Inside, at the cafeteria, the foursome of Imtiaz Ali, Karan Johar, Kunal Kohli and Prasoon Joshi were chatting away like long lost friends. Karan was overheard saying, “I’m the filler on stage when Shah Rukh and Saif go to change.” Sanjay Gadhvi and Mukesh Bhatt were spotted having a long, serious chat, oblivious of everything around them.

When the show started, it was electric stuff with Shah Rukh and Saif Ali Khan in their element. Shashi Kapoor received a Lifetime Achievement Award and the action started flowing thick and fast after that.

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS: Khayyam & Shashi Kapoor

Below are the picture of bollywood ladies with comments on their dresses.

The worst we can say about Katrina's ensemble is that it's boring; but she's picked the right colour and accessories. Maybe this will stir her dormant Khan relationship, or make a Kapoor notice.

A glaring ray of putrid synthetic sunshine in an Archana Kochhar creation, a girl this pretty should dress to attract, not repel.

We fear Vidya might go the Rekha way — wearing only kanjeevarams; in her case, Sabyasachi. But who could blame her — look at the colour and handiwork on that piece. We think she's done grieving over a certain co-star.

In a hard to pull-off Gauri and Nainika gown, Deepika shows a certain Kapoor what exactly he's missing. With perfect glam-rock hair, make-up and accessories, Deepika reminds us she's a model first.

White is not the colour of choice for evening wear, but Kangna is hardly conventional. It suits her bronzed body and the curly up-do. With Adhyayan long behind her, she's on the prowl .

We look forward to Shruti's public appearances and she didn't disappoint. Classy and quirky in a Christian Dior gown, she should bottle her individuality.

It's Tabu... in a shimmering black sari again. If you had nothing to wear, you needn't go scrounging in Kajol's closet. Shake it up a bit, woman. You're too spunky to play it safe.

A new man in her life is doing wonders for Dia. She's a picture of golden innocence in this Pooja Thia creation, and new hair. Score, score, score.

SRK and wife Gauri are the first couple of Bollywood. The two leave no stone unturned to make a snappy style statement. Gauri turned up in a Donatella Versace gown, her diamond studded fingers clasping a stylish clutch. This is a couple that's truly been there, done that; there are no more mysteries to be unravelled, and they are just happy to be.

They look as if they were painted together on a canvas: Sussanne is all attention for the occasion at hand while our current Greek God looks attractively pensive. The famed termites that had ravaged the walls of their home a year ago seem to have been banished for good.

HRITHIK IN HOLLYWOOD?

After Kites, Hrithik Roshan is flooded with offers for Hollywood romcoms

Since 2001, we have been hearing that Hrithik Roshan will act in a Hollywood film. Reportedly, Hrithik was to act in a film titled Aditya, to be produced by Los Angelesbased James Killough and to be directed by Tarsem Singh, who made to Hollywood’s Alist with The Cell. But the film never went on the floors. Now, Hrithik’s splash in Hollywood doesn’t look like a very distant dream.

Seeing the trailers and promos of Kites, Rakesh Roshan has been getting calls from Hollywood filmmakers. These makers are impressed by Hrithik’s performance in Kites and his sizzling chemistry with his co-actor, Barbara Mori.

“Hrithik and Barbara have ignited a never-seen-before

passion on screen. This has particularly caught the eye of many Hollywood directors,” said a source.

Interestingly, quite a few of these offers are for romantic films, some are even romantic comedies. “These offers have come in just early this week. Hrithik is dwelling on them,” added the source. Rakesh Roshan did not deny the story. Unwilling to reveal the names of the Hollywood filmmakers who want to make a film with Hrithik, Roshan senior simply said, “It is too early to comment on this.”

However, Hrithik’s official spokesperson confirmed the news and said, “Yes, Hrithik has been getting a lot of feelers from Hollywood recently.”

Ranbir wants Deepika back

Ranbir has been messaging Deepika to say that he wants her back while there are indications that Shahid and Priyanka may kiss and make up

There are strong rumours within the industry that Ranbir Kapoor has been frantically sms-ing Deepika from the US where he’s shooting, saying that he wants her back in his life.

Though a friend of Deepika’s says her dignity dissuades her from talking about her past, there’s a distinct possibility of reconciliation. Says the friend on condition of anonymity, “It was Ranbir who told Deepika that the relationship was off. She took it on her chin and moved on, keeping the hurt to herself. But the minute Ranbir heard about rumours linking her to Shahid Kapoor, he started sms-ing Deepika and their mutual friends, asking if the rumours were true.”

Shahid, on the other hand, has been mulling over other matters. His relationship with Priyanka Chopra ended on a rocky note a few days before Christmas last year, but both are apparently in the mood to rekindle their ‘friendship’.

While they had never officially announced that they were dating last year, their fondness for each other was obvious, if their very public interaction on social networking sites is anything to go by. However, things are a tad different this time as the two are not opening up about rediscovering their feelings for each other. And now they are connecting again, but through long phone chats.

While it is not clear who broke the ice, Priyanka and Shahid, who stay in the same building Raj Classic on Mumbai’s Yari Road, are frquently calling each other and sending text messages.

A source says, “Priyanka is still very fond of Shahid and if there is any girl who is on Shahid’s mind right now, it’s Priyanka.”

Incidentally, Priyanka’s parents are also quite fond of Shahid. A few days ago, Shahid called up Priyanka’s parents to wish them on their wedding anniversary. “They feel he is a gentle and well-mannered boy,” adds our source.

So why did Priyanka not reply to Shahid’s message congratulating her on the National Award for Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion? “Who says she didn’t reply? She did reply, but after some time. It was reported that she had been rude to him and had deliberately not answered his text message. Priyanka is not here to rub anybody the wrong way,” says our source.

Aditya Narayan moves out of father Udit’s shadow

Nothing is permanent in Bollywood. Udit Narayan’s son Aditya, who will be making his debut with Vikram Bhatt’s Shaapit soon, has moved out of his father’s house. Apparently he doesn’t want to be associated any longer with his father — all is definitely not well.

Our source said, “Everything was fine till Aditya started shooting for Shaapit. In fact, Uditji had even come for the first day’s shoot. Now Aditya has bought himself a house in Oshiwara (Mumbai) and is staying there. He has categorically told his father that he wants to create his own identity and told him not to interfere with his career.” Vikram Bhatt, the director of Aditya’s film, said, “I can’t comment on the father-son relationship as I am not aware about anything amiss. His father called me after he saw the promos and I am sure he is very happy for Aditya.”

But Aditya didn’t mince words. “I don’t want my father to promote me. I have my own house and studio and I want it to be my solo effort. He has brought me up but I have always taken my own decisions, be it the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa show or Shaapit.”

Asked why his father is not seen by his side these days, Aditya said, “He was present on the sets on the first day of the film. Why would I want my father to visit my sets everyday? He helped me take a decision when I wanted to sign the film. That’s about it.”

Udit had a different version to why Aditya has moved out of the house. “Aditya is my only son and he has been working since he was a 5-year-old. He believes in doing his own thing. After he came back from London after completing his studies, he did a TV show and made some money. He told me that he wanted to buy a house nearby where he also wants a room for his studio. I had no issues because it is his money. He is making his debut as a singer-actor and I hope and pray God gives him success. I’ll always be proud of him.”

It’s Hrithik, not Ranbir for Katrina

Katrina opts out of a Ranbir Kapoor-starrer to act opposite Hrithik Roshan

A recent development in Bollywood gives a new twist to the Katrina Kaif-Ranbir Kapoor business. The actress has apparently pulled out of a film with the Kapoor scion by Imtiaz Ali in favour of hottie Hrithik Roshan in Zoya Akhtar’s next. The reason? Katz could not give dates to both directors. She’d love to do Imtiaz’s film with Ranbir, but Zoya offered her a role with a co-star Katz couldn’t say no to. Yes, Katrina and Ranbir are cute on screen, but she and Hrithik will be a hot, new jodi. Katz will begin shooting for Tees Maar Khan soon and then Dostana 2. But the industry is wondering whether Hrithik will have hot kissing scenes with Katz after his experiences with Latino bombshell Barbara Mori in Kites.

Ex-lovers Shahid and Kareena finally had a conversation

For the first time since they broke up, ex-lovers Shahid and Kareena finally had a conversation in full public view at Shah Rukh’s party.

Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had hugged and patched up, even Kareena ended her cold war with Aishwarya — it all happened at Karan Johar’s birthday party last year. And Karan is now taking his gift of playing Bollywood peacemaker to the next level. Last week he played the catalyst, making Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor not only acknowledge each other’s presence but actually strike up a conversation, and a pretty warm one at that. The venue for this patch up was Shah Rukh Khan’s bungalow, Mannat, where King Khan had hosted a celebration for My Name Is Khan. Says a source, “Shahid and Kareena came face to face and everyone thought they would simply ignore each other like they have on so many occasions in the past. But this time, Karan happened to be present right there and instead of marching past each other, they slowed down for a bit. And the rest, as they say, is history.”

Even after the ice was broken, neither Shahid or Kareena seemed in a rush to get back to more comfortable company. They had a pretty warm exchange and a little later even Saif, who was present at the party, joined them.

“Shahid and Kareena have finally decided to leave their acrimonious past behind them. This was very evident in the manner all three of them — Shahid, Kareena and Saif — interacted with each other at Shah Rukh’s party,” adds our source.

While both Shahid and Kareena could not be reached for comment, Kareena’s official spokesperson said, “Kareena has no problem with anybody, including Shahid.” For the record, Shahid and Kareena, who were in a serious relationship for three years, parted ways in 2007, a few days before Imtiaz Ali’s Jab We Met hit the theatres.

The controversial R&B singer will make his Bollywood debut in SRK-starrer Ra.One

If Bollywood stars want a foothold in Hollywood, vice versa also holds true. International pop stars doing numbers for desi films started as far back as Samantha Fox in Rock Dancer (1995).

More recently, there was Snoop Dog in Singh is Kingg, followed by Kylie Minogue in Blue and now Akon will be seen in Anubhav Sinha’s Ra.One starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor, which has music by Vishal and Shekhar.

A source reveals, “Ra.One is a SFX movie and director Anubhav Sinha wants to achieve Hollywood standards. Shah Rukh and Anubhav spoke about having an international pop singer in the movie, and Shah Rukh opted for Akon, who is popular with the youth.”

The source continues, “During a recent visit to Los Angeles, Shah Rukh met Akon and they had a long conversation on Indian and Western music. Akon will sing in Ra.One and this will be his debut in Bollywood. He has been signed for a whopping amount. Akon had performed last year at the closing ceremony of the IPL.”

Music Review Of KARTHIK CALLING KARTHIK

(HINDI - SHANKAR EHSAAN LOY ; MIDIVAL PUNDITZ - KARSH KALE)

Hey ya’s frothy tune and Clinton’s breezy vocals perfectly complement each other, while Uff teri adaa is the soundtrack’s ebullient highlight, with a trippy techno sound that envelopes the very-trio’ish folk roots and Alyssa Mendonsa’s tantalising vocals!

K K goes through the motions in the serenely country’ish Jaane ye kya hua, while Kaisi hai ye udaasi’s pathos is a bit trite to evoke an emotion. The title song is pleasantly surreal, in keeping with the film’s theme, while Midival Punditz & Karsh Kale’s Karthik 2.0 merely has a massive Don hangover. Two standout songs — one for each Karthik; ‘nuff said!

Katrina Kaif will get married in 2012

Call it an ultimatum or whatever but bollywood hottie Katrina Kaif is certain she will get married in 2012. And since that’s just two years from now, she is all set to have the time of her life in films. That also explains her choices, which currently consist of Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan, Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar and Tarun Mansukhani’s Dostana 2, which should take care of this year.

It also means she has stopped looking for another home. “I’ll get married and go to my husband’s home,” she says fluttering her eyelashes, “Why put in so much money into a new home when I have a perfectly comfortable one at the moment?”

Whether the 2012 groom will be Salman Khan or someone she still has to meet, or whether it will even be another actor, is something she refuses to comment on.

Adnan Sami is getting married again

Yes, Adnan Sami is getting married... in an undisclosed part of Europe on January 31 to German girl Roya Faryabi.

“All our family members are going to be at the wedding. I’d like all my friends from Mumbai to accompany me. Unfortunately, there’s no time for them to make travel arrangements. So I’ll have a large wedding reception in Mumbai as soon as Roya and I return.” At the moment, Jermaine Jackson and his wife are on the guest list. The groom-tobe will be rushing in and out of court hearings and bridal fittings, barely bidding adieu to wife number 2 Sabah Galadari, before tying the knot with wife number 3, who according to Adnan, is perfect wife material. “I was going through the worst phase of my life when I met Roya. I lost my grandfather, then my father. She held my hand during my darkest hours while I was fighting the ugliest court battle with my former wife. Roya is very family-oriented. More than the fact that she loves me, I love her for understanding the importance of family ties. Roya respects my mother.”

Most important of all Adnan’s son Azaan gets along like a house of fire with his new stepmom-to-be.

Talking about Roya, Adnan says, “I wouldn’t say she came into my life suddenly. We got to know each other gradually. After having gone through what I have, I was in no mood to jump into a new relationship. But it didn’t take me long to realise she was the woman for me.”

Roya will move residence to Mumbai with Adnan right after the wedding. “She is a qualified engineer in Munich and works in the communication services. The organisation has branches all over the world. They’re looking at opening a branch in Mumbai now that Roya is shifting to the city.”

Adnan wants his wife to continue working after marriage. “Isn’t it enough sacrifice that she’s leaving her family behind to join me in Mumbai? I don’t want her to give up her career.”

Misic Review - My Name Is Khan (Hindi – Shankar Ehsaan Loy)

Sajda is exceptionally lilting; the combination of Rahat, Shankar and Richa Sharma works brilliantly.

Tere naina follows a by-now-familiar, trio-template tune, but still makes for beautiful listening — Shafqat’s singing and a remarkable chorus.

Rashid Khan’s pious Allah hi rahem is barely functional while Suraj Jagan and Shankar Mahadevan recreate the Rock On!! magic in Rang De, with its amiable rock sound.

Noor-e-khuda is clearly the soundtrack’s best, with Adnan and Shreya joining Shankar in a tune that navigates from lovely pop to bewitching, tabla-driven portions; the chorus, in particular, is extraordinary. Solid start to the year, by the trio!

Music Review - ISHQIYA (Hindi – Vishal Bhardwaj)

The mesmerisingly lilting and vaudevillian Dil to bachcha hai is reminiscent of the Raj Kapoor era, but a more pronounced inspiration seems to be Webber’s Cats tune, Memories — the prelude, in particular, is shockingly uncredited, and similar.

Ibn-e-batuta’s joyously unrestrained pigeon-call and the interesting duet featuring Sukhwinder and Mika is vintage Vishal-Gulzar material.

Out of the two songs by Rekha Bharadwaj, Badi dheere’s subtle cross-over from its Farida Khanum’ish base is more evolved than the more conventional ghazallike Ab mujhe koi, which, by that very nature is more approachable. Usual musical treat from Vishal barring that niggling Memories quibble.
